Advertising Disclosure
Last updated:
Readers are entitled to know whether advertising can influence what a website writes. This page explains how advertising works on Home & High Street, what we do not do, and where to go if you have a question.
Advertising and editorial independence
Some pages may display third-party advertising. Any advertisements are clearly separated from editorial content and do not influence what we publish. Some content on this site features businesses, projects or channels we have a commercial or editorial association with. Where an article is about such a business, it is identified as such. We do not run paid subscriptions or sell products.
How adverts appear
Adverts are supplied and placed by Google, not chosen one by one by us. Google may place adverts automatically in or around our pages, and the adverts you see can differ from one visitor to the next. Because we do not select individual advertisers, an advert appearing beside a guide is not a recommendation or endorsement by Home & High Street, and a product shown in an advert is not something we have reviewed.
We publish an ads.txt file, the industry-standard public list of who is authorised to sell advertising space on this site.
Advertising does not decide what we write
Third-party advertisers have no influence over which topics we cover, which shops or brands we mention, or what a guide concludes. Where an article is about a business, project or channel we are associated with, it is identified as such. Every recommendation in a guide is there because it seems useful to a reader making a realistic household decision. Our Editorial Policy explains how guides are researched, written and corrected.
Shops and brands we mention
When a guide names a bakery, a market, a retailer or a high-street chain, in one of our general guides, that is an editorial choice. If a commercial relationship affects a piece of content, we label it clearly where it appears. Business owners who would like to suggest themselves can do so through our Contact page, although a suggestion does not guarantee a mention.
Affiliate links
The guides on this site do not currently contain affiliate links, meaning links for which we would be paid a commission if you bought something. If we introduce them in future, each one will be labelled at the point it appears, and this page will be updated, in line with UK advertising and consumer-protection requirements.
Your choices about adverts
Google may use cookies to show adverts based on your browsing. You can read how Google does this at policies.google.com/technologies/ads and manage personalised advertising at google.co.uk/settings/ads. Our Cookie Policy describes the cookies involved, and our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
Questions or concerns
If you think an advert is inappropriate, or you would like to ask how advertising on the site works, email info@jsdca.com or use the Contact page. Please include the address of the page where you saw the advert.
